I have a underwater-casing for the S-1 that I had for years. With a trip to the Yucatan planned I needed to replace the original camera. It's been a while since I shoot a S-1, and after taking pictures in an under ground pool, the Mayan Pyramids as well as swimming with the Whale Sharks. I remembered just why I enjoyed this camera. Both on land and in the water it'd depth of field and clarity are excellent. Even though the 3.2 MP may be a bit low for some applications, the 10X optical zoom more than makes this an incredibly versatile point and shoot camera. Easy to use and full of features, very good picture quality and the ability to place it into a underwater casing. how can you not love this camera.
Really decent photo's and video...all but the wind in the microphone! Must take the higher mHa batteries of over 2500 to work properly. Anything lower mHa will effect the lens retract and internal power memories. My old one bit the dust after long hard use. Forgot it in the grass (dew), left it in the sun. Often left it running on film in the frigid cold. Would carry it on my riding mower (shoulder strap about the back seat); she got knocked about. Walks in the woods with some very steep hills. Had a dog who carried it away and bury it like a bone! Oddly the thing which broke was the shudder would not trip.
I bought the Canon PowerShot S1 IS 3.2 MP Digital Camera - Silver new. I had a problem with the camera about a month after the warranty ran out. I went to use it and I couldn't get the LCD to show what I wanted to photograph. In fact, the LCD screen was totally black. So after trying to get it to work, I gave in and sent it to Canon. They fixed it, but it cost me to have it fixed. So now 2 1/2 years later and I am having the same problem again with the camera. The camera took good photos and movies. it was a little awkward to carry. Maybe I bought a lemon.
Pros: Zooming level is great, the picture quality is pretty good. Cons: It was little hard to use at first. I had to look up a manual on thee internet but after you get used to all the different buttons, it's easy.
I love my camera is not too heavy and it gets the job done pros: Easy to use Great picture everytime Zooms in a keeps th picture nice professional no matter what cons: Sucks batery juice too fast Over all a great camera will recomend to anyone nto photography!
