The Insignia 5.0 MP Mini Handheld Camcorder is the ultimate small package, big punch. With HD video capabilities built-in and a HDMI port for easy access, this camera has it all. There is a built-in 64 MB storage with a SD slot for any sized SD card. The 3 inch LCD screen with multiple viewing angles makes seeing what you're shooting very easy. You are able to capture video, still pictures, sound recordings and store music on this handheld device. It's very easy to use, and as portable as they come. The 5.0 MP is not with the industry standard, but it presents such a wonderful image for the size and price. This is a great little device for anyone on the go not wanting to miss life's memories.
My first camcorder, and it is sweet. It takes great daytime snapshots. It has a lighting feature for nightshots. I have had 1.3mp camera phone. This is not anything like that. These are true digital photos for a very cheap camera. Great for beginners but experts could handle more complex cameras. It's a music player. Has its own 32 mb of storage or 2 mins of video. It comes with a SDHC slot for flash memory. I'm buying 16gb card myself. I didn't even need to use the driver CD. Windows recognized it on the spot. It has an HDMI port and A/V cables for TV/DVD player/digital device instant play.
The first thing that attracted me towards this camcorder is that it does dual duty. It takes hi-def video and also hi-def still pictures. Great camcorder for the beginner or novice. Very easy to read instructions, photo editing software, among a few extras. Very compact. Has a nice little pouch to protect it and will fit in your shirt pocket. Pros: Takes very nice video and still pictures. Cons: Very little internal memory. You will have to pick up an sd card at least 4gb. Overall, I would recommend to anybody needing a video/camera for those spur of the moments when you just have to capture an event immediately.
My Insignia NS-DCC5HB09 is a great sized camera for everyday use and extremely durable, which I would know because I have dropped it quite a few times. I would say that it really only works well in well lit places due to it's low quality flash. I also would not consider this HD because although it enlarges onto bigger screens, the picture is sometimes not perfect. I mostly use this to video sporting events and other outdoor activities because I find that the quality is great for that kind of thing. The camcorder fits right in my pocket and the memory cards can be stored in my wallet until needed. It also works really well with streaming video to the computer. There are some other aspects that I think take away from what this camcorder could be capable of. First of all, there is no optical zoom and the digital zoom just makes the subject pixelated. Second, the shutter speed is very slow, at least 2-3 seconds behind. Lastly. the microphone is on the back of the camcorder so it makes it difficult for the subjects to be heard. It's undoubtedly a good product for the price, but I would only recomment for recreational users.Read full review
Great little camcorder with good quality video and still pictures as well. Nice big and sharp LCD screen. It has many features other camcorders don't have, but it is hard to operate at first until you figure out the menus and how to get there. Battery life seems very good, although the only way to charge it is with the wall charger. It would be nice if it would charge through USB hooked up to a computer.
