I really like the fps on this camera, fast enough to shoot action. Its a solid body camera, heavy, and has loads of options to choose from for a custom feel. There are endless possibilities of custom combinations, which I really like. What I hate about this camera is it has a really slow buffering time. What I mean by this is that when you take a picture it takes like 5 seconds to show up on the the screen, and sometimes it won't show up at all. When shooting sequences it's 10x worse and takes a few minutes sometimes to buffer. The only real problem with this camera is the buffer speed. Overall, I'd recommend it.
The D1H is similar to the D1, but it has some improvements. The new menu system is easier to use than the D1 CSM button. The 2" monitor is faster to review your shots. The camera itself is faster. It uses the 2.7 Mp sensor like the D1, and like the D1 it takes good and sharp images. It also has Raw as a file format. It still has better image quality than some recent cameras, there is a difference between pro gear and consumer gear. The H has something it's older brother doesn't, user selectable tonal compensation to suit your needs. It can really make your shots stand out. Something else the D1H has, a high shot rate and large buffer. I have the D1 as my everyday carry camera, but I needed the faster frame rates for local fashion shows, graduations, motorcycle rallies, and large social events. The D1h fills the need without killing my gear budget. And the images look great as 8*10 or 11*14 prints I recommend having 2 or more batteries when shooting as my batteries have been lasting around 200 to 500 shots a charge. These are still great cameras that are hard to beat for the money.Read full review
I own the D1H since many years ( 2007) and I stll love this dinosaur, not for tiny hands though ! The run for mega pixels made us crazy, you don't need so many, for perfect pictures, which this D1(H) (X) delivers It all depends on the processor, which in this case, is remarkable good Look for a cosmetic nice one, rather rare now a day's and buy it f you can, enoy this early digital feeling Small files is very practical on the internet, so mine has daily use It needs no regular service and is very strong The downside is the EN-4 accu, still very available on the net, but it lacks power for a day's shoot out ! Anyway not a reason to stay away from this mighty photo machine(s)

I recently bought a D1H, and it is an awesome camera if you use it within it's limitations. Yes, it's sensor is 2.7 Mp, but it's not the camera to use if you want to make huge enlargements, it's primary function is to shoot action and for usage in newspapers. When used for those purposes, it's an awesome camera, if you want huge enlargements and are on a budget(not all of us can afford D200's/D2x's), get a D1X. Just make sure that you get some good 3rd party batteries, like from Battery Barn, then you can shoot for extended periods of time, I put about 600 frames through my D1H at a recent martial arts event and my battery indicator still read full.
Great camera takes outstaning pictures very fast and very easy on the wallet. This camera may be old but it is still the standard all digital camera are measured. I have been using this camera since it's inception. I am a pro photographer that shoots mostly weddings and it has never let me down
