As this camera has not been made in many years, finding one is more scarce than hen's teeth. This particular one lasted through 3 rolls & 2 frames. Then, the film transport ceased to work. Guess I got what I paid. But, when these cameras work, they take high quality pictures -not images. The color pops off the page; the photo quality is high; the settings are easy to use. I have been able to sell a number of 8x10s, they are so great. There are a number of settings, making it very useful in a number of different applications.
This camera is my favorite of the 35mm automatic cameras. It is very easy to use and takes top quality pictures. When compared to the digitizing of the film, the pictures far surpass those of much more expensive digitals and there are so many places to take the film that give free CDs of the pictures as a bonus. This camera is a must for all photo enthusiasts who value high quality and ease of use.
I'm a dinasaur when it comes to relinquishing my 35mm film camera to go digital. I had a Fuji Discovery 900+ for over 20 yrs. & it gave up the ghost. I immediately went into withdrawal, but remembered eBay & decided to get a replacement (since everyone snickered when I asked about repairs). The great part is that the Discovery 1000 series is similar in photo quality as the 900+ (my preference). I think it was about $6 and back in the day it probably cost me about $80. So I'm glad I found it.
I bought it because the one I had owned for ten years finally croaked--but it had been the best camera I'd ever had...traveled all over the globe, been jostled around, nearly eaten by a kangaroo, and with 200 speed film created the most rich, vibrant outdoor photos imaginable. Finally the film loader broke and buying a used one was less expensive than getting it fixed. This exact camera is not longer made.
i was under the influence that this camera would actually turn on, but alas, it never turned on. i tried 5 different types of batteries but nothing could make it turn on
