Easy to carry to grandkids sporting events. Wanted an easy camera to use, for my wife and I, and we hit it out of the park!

I am having trouble with the still pictures not being in focus. I have tried a few different settings but I still have the same problem. Maybe someone knows something I do not and can help with making sure it does focus. I have lost many special moments using this camera. I am about to throw this away.

This camera was within my price range so it caught my eye immediately. I was eyeing the "flip" camera and the knock offs of that line of camera and I liked the price but the quality was lacking. Those cameras are very jerky and can't zoom in without grainy images and blur. You have to walk towards people like you are using your camera from your cell phone. What's worse is you can't take extended length videos, many of them cut you off after 10 minutes and create a new file. This camera on the other hand, looks and feels like a real camera. The zoom is amazing and crystal clear. It is the same basic size as a can of pepsi and it does everything I need for a real camera. If was just putting videos up on youtube I guess the flip line would be ok, but I plan on recording family events as my newborn son grows and this is the camera for that. I know it isn't HD but it does take widescreen 480i quality pictures which is fine for me. People get caught up in the "1080p" and don't realize they are getting a camera that won't work well for family or sporting events that have objects far away or need to have a steady hand to view. I couldn't be happier with the features and quality of this camera.Read full review
Ok here 's my look at this product. I like it because it has a 30 gig built in memory hard drive plus one can add the MicroSD Card to it also for me that is more for shorter filming of something you wish to share with someone or let them copy it to their pc. The bigger stuff you record is better for the CD and tools u get to make your own DVD and share it with family members as we did with our daughters graduation this year in 2009,was great to have. The zoom is pretty good and when using it you have to do it slowly for the focus to catch up with the zooming. Battery life is good as long as you are shooting most of what you are doing with the standard battery in one time shooting or at least the same day. Letting battery sit just one day(and deffinately 2) kills it after just a few minutes of shooting film...I suggest 2 batteries or getting an extended life one like i did, they are worth the money and if you look them up online(sometimes not even on ebay, just google batteries for this unit) and you will find a better deal alot of times...Ok picture taking..I'll put it this way,i have read alot of reviews and only thing i can say is if you want to use this for pics it seems to do stills ok(about a 2pixel style and only in good light),go out and get a used 5MP camera, they're good, cheap and plantiful on ebay and other places on the net. They take much better pics than these units. Other than that i think this is a good product for the money and with the 30 gig already built in you really don't need to buy extra memory unless your shooting the stars, just buy the extended life battery along with the one that comes with it and you will do good. But to let you know, these models are being pulled off the shelf, not because they're bad, because they are coming out with newer models this year with more features, better picture quality and are suppose to improve the pic taking better. But for me this will last me awhile i'm sure and are not a bad buy as long as you get one from someone that is telling you the truth about the product. If you need a bigger hard drive they are out there in the 60gig and 120gig models also....Oh one thing you wil notice, but it is true with all these smaller camcorders so i have seen... The volume you play back at through the camcorder is always low,but when you put it on your t.v. to watch through a/v cables or when doing a burning od a DVD you will see the cam picked up the music, voices or whatever it is you are trying to record pretty good actually(very small speaker mounted on all these models and none are loud coming out no matter how high you turn up the volume after recording)....Gte one of these 30 gigers for around 200.00,it's a fair price, anymoire than that i would wait. I also highly recommend the Sony in thesame price range but it does not have the built in hard drive, you have to buy your memory. Just throwing that in. Godd Buying to you.Read full review
As a producer on public access cable, i needed to eventaully get my own equipment to film my shows. Long story short, I ran into the HDD series of camcorders and then to JCV. With a hard drive, I never need tapes and I can easily transfer video files from the camera to my PC. You can even trim off the unwanted parts of the video footage directly on the camera! Not only does this have a 30gb harddrive but it also has a micro sd slot. This camcorder is fantastic IMO! Just as advertized it can get up to 9999 still photos, 37hrs of video footage in low resolution setting and 10hrs on the highest quality setting. I had no problems with the automatic focusing or light adjustments. FF and rew buttons are gone and replaced with the LCD screen lite touch buttons and the lazer touch strip...That is really cool!!! No lens cap to lose because the lens is protected by a built-in shutter. Low on light? This also has a built-in spot light. Sound reception is great IMO! From 15' away in a regular room I got clearaudio talking at regular tone. No need to shout at this camcorder. With the battery in it, its an inch longer than a Motorola Razr phone, just as wide and 3x as thick. Yeah, its small! The connections are well hidden and placed in maybe the best places where you can still shoot with everything connected. The full package comes with battery, usb, AC, AV cables, hand strap, neck strap, and remote. No worries if you get a used one without the manual just go to JVC.com. The thing that brought it home for me is that it also comes with the software and editing disc. With this, I no longer need to go to the public access studio to edit my footage and produce a show. Import, edit, add intros, transitions, text, effects, then produce add chapters if i want. Basicly you can almost make your DVD run like a store bought movie. Then you can burn to CD or DVD or save as a file on your PC. It would be super moronic of me to find something faulty or flawed about this JVC Everio GZ-MG330 camcorder.
