I bought this camera and received it a little while ago. First off I would like to state that I am an amatuer with this type of camera. SO if I state a problem that would appear to be an obvious common occurance then keep that in mind. So far the camera is great. I like all the features and have tried each feature that is available on it. The shutter speed is great and the high speed video is also good. The only thing I did not quite expect is that the high the video frame rate the lower the resolution and the darker the picture. Putting on a color filter does help a little for the brightness. But so far I am unable to film anything indoors in high speed without extremely bright lights. Indoors with just the average 100 watt lights show almost nothing at all in the picture at 1000 frames. The picture is so dark the only thing I have been able to capture at 1000 frames in regular indoor lighting is a lighter lighting. Because that emits light on its own yet it still is pretty dark. As for the still frames I am quite satisfied. There are many customization options. The zoom is also very good and very clear. I would give this overall a 3.5-4 stars. With the only bad part being the unexpected extremely dark high speed video. But seeing as how that is one of the most attractive features of this product 3.5-4 would be my total rating.Read full review
I really like this camera, the picture quality is excellent, and of course, the super slow mo feature gives you a ton of fun possibilities (not to mention you can use the camera not just to goof around, it might be helpful for serious people too haha)! If i had to change one thing, and it is really the ONLY one thing i find "wrong" with the camera is that is powered by 4 AA batteries, BUT, if you have rechargeables (or a cheap 48 pack from a store like i do), you are all set!!
I am a PGA golf professional and I use this camera for high-speed motion analysis during golf lessons. It's ability to shoot at 410 frames per second (FPS) makes it a fantastic tool for showing the path of a golf club with a high degree of detail. It is very much like watching the Minolta swing vision slow motion replays you see during PGA events on TV. Pair it up with a 7 or 10 inch LCD panel (using it's std AV output) and you have a very competent motion analysis tool that runs only on batteries (no worries about AC power!). I also use this set up for baseball, soccer, and basketball when working with my son--all at a fraction of the cost of the high-end systems. I couldn't be happier with the results. I love the high speed feature and the ease of use. Many cool features and easy to use features. Another feature that is nice is the 40 shot. It takes 40 pics of before and after when you push the button. So you never miss the perfect moment. (you can delete what you don't want to keep or save as many as you like. I also like that it uses sd and sdhc cards of which i have several from previous digital cameras. Nice size view screen. I compared this camera to other cameras in a range from $350 to $1000. Great deal for price. Good zoom and feel/weight.
We have recently started to use the high-speed (210 fps) capabilities for documenting and analyzing quarry blasts as a part of our normal operating procedure. Regular video is much too slow to capture the millisecond interaction between blast holes, and a dedicated hi-speed camera was about $10,000. This is an extremely easy-to-use, versatile, inexpensive camera with a great zoom that every blaster can now own. 4x AA batteries are a very convenient power source to replace in the field. Only minor nag is that the lens cap has to be removed BEFORE turning on the camera as the lens zoom spirals outward immediately and an error is displayed on the LCD screen. Overall, an amazing tool at an amazing price!
