Recently I have bought an LCD monitor - VX2025WM by ViewSonic. Earlier I used to use only CRT monitors, I had two from Samsung, so for my me it was a difficult problem which one to choose. Working as a programmer I need to have a good monitor because of the amount of time I am face to face with it. So text must be clear and colors have to be quite good. Also I needed to have more space to prevent countless scrolling up and down. As to VX2025WM, it is a widescreen monitor, i.e. its height is a liitle more than the height of an ordinary 17' LCD (27.1 cm ~ 10.6 inches) but the width is something incredible - 43.3 cm is enough to see three pages simultaneously in a word processor! This monitor has two interfaces - an ordinary D-SUB and DVI. I plugged my video card to the DVI socket and had the same problem as few other owners of the monitor had had - no signal. But this weakness of the LCD is well known so I shortly I found out the solution: just unplug the power cord from it, press the power button on it to let remains of electricity get out from capacitors, plug the power cord back, turn the LCD on and finally turn on your computer. This operation needs to be done only once. Colors: colors are vivid, I have nothing more to say. This monitor has MVA matrix, so in comparison with an LCD display with TN matrix colors are much more better and there is no leak of sharpness as it would be expected. Here I would like to say that for myself I did some color corrction in the settings of my video card: it relates to the gamma, I set (in nVidia driver's terms) R point: 0.35 0.30 G point: 0.35 0.31 B point: 0.35 0.31 i.e. I reduced the level of red. Speakers: the LCD has built-in speakers, 1W each, on the back side, so it is hard to hear them. Summing up all the points mentioned above: pros: 1. Wide screen 2. Very good matrix, A+ - the nearest rival is only NEC MultiSync 20WMGX2 cons: 1. A strange problem with DVI 2. Weak speakersRead full review
When I purchased this moniter I originally was looking at a Dell model but the price drove me away. Then I found out about this LCD moniter and for what I paid for its actually a very good product. Sharp text, good colors, and great movie viewing at some of its strongest points. For gaming there is some ghosting but ONLY in certain situations such as a very dark image moving into a very light image. Other than that Im very satisfied with its performance and would recommend this product for its price. If you can afford better go for it, if you cant get this beauty.
This is my 2nd VX2025wm purchase. I bought my original one at full retail for $450 in 2006. This is a wonderful, crisp, beautiful monitor and plays games as well as serves as my main display. Recently I've setup a workstation in my home office and use a KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse switcher aka KVM). I could switch between all my systems on one monitor, but I was missing important IM's from work and answering them late. As I want my work to constantly be visible during work hours no matter which system I'm on, I bought a VX2035wm on eBay, but, unlike what I hoped, it doesn't have the same look and feel as the vx2025wm. The vx2035wm is a great LCD, but it looks different. I'll be putting it up on eBay after I get my 2nd vx2025wm. You can't go wrong with a VX2025wm OR a VX2035wm. I just like the have two lcd's that look the same on my desk, for aesthetic reasons.Read full review
excellent monitor. owned my first one for 2.8yrs and have loved it enough to buy a second. color matching between the two are great. no ghosting at all during any kind of activity. the only down side would be it has no usb ports on it, but for me it wasn't a big deal. the speakers on on the monitor are so-so, but who buys a monitor for its built in speakers? at most i plug my ipod into them from time to time. good monitor all around, to bad you can't find them retail anymore...
These monitors are so good that for the price that I ended up buying 3. The only con I have is that my original 2 that I bought a year before I purchased the third are noticeably Dimmer than the new one. I ended up just dimming the brightness on my new one to better match the other 2, it's still noticeable but doable. Gotta love having 60.3" of desktop screen. :)
