A device using DDR2 memory is probably (like mine) fairly old. If one hasn't replaced it already, there is no need to pay new prices since when you do finally replace the device you will not be able to transfer the memory to another device. Because I was frequently getting the "Computer low on memory" messages, and even experienced a shutdown due to complete memory loss, upgrading to 8GB appeared to be the only way to keep the laptop running. One other note: Memory is memory. The only thing one needs to keep in mind when purchasing memory is the type (i.e. DDR2; DDR3; etc.). Labeling memory by computer brand like Dell or HP is unnecessary and even a bit misleading. Any SoDIMM memory board will fit into any laptop using the same type.

Bought 8Gb of this RAM to fill out my HP laptop. Previously, with 4Gb total, adding an SSD brought my reboot time from ~120 seconds down to ~45 seconds. Loading up to the 8Gb max brought that down further to ~20 seconds. The computer is much more responsive (probably because of reduced swapping) and behaves much better (no long pauses with no response). Very happy with the improvement. Total investment of ~$100 for both SSD and RAM much lower than the cost of a new laptop. Should easily get another five years out of this one.

I have an older mid 2009 MacBook 5,2 and officially it supports 4gb of ram, people have gotten 6gb to work, and I got this set to work with none of the issues people said this would have. I don't know if it was because I'm using a patched version of High Sierra or if it's this memory that made it work, but either way I definitely recommend this ram, as long as you know your device supports it!

This memory is for an older laptop, and the 4 GB SODIMM is pricey now, but I found this one from a used laptop dealer, and it was the only one listed. Appears to be working well, and the cost was a lot less than buying new.
